Jeff Mullins is a multiple graded-stakes-winning Thoroughbred trainer whose career spans more than three decades at the highest levels of American racing. Based in Southern California and operating primarily out of Santa Anita Park, Mullins has built a reputation for developing elite runners across both dirt and turf, with success at major tracks nationwide and on racing’s biggest stages.
Over the course of his career, Mullins has trained more than 1,800 winners and earned over $64 million in purses, with a roster that has included standout performers such as I Want Revenge, Buzzards Bay, Castledale, Itsinthepost, and River Boyne. His runners have competed in multiple Breeders’ Cups, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies with Wild Fit. He is a multiple graded-stakes-winning trainer with victories in many of the sport’s premier events, including several editions of the Santa Anita Derby and other major stakes across the country.
Mullins began training in the late 1980s and quickly established himself on the California circuit, combining hands-on horsemanship with a keen eye for developing both young prospects and seasoned campaigners. As the designated trainer for Dutch Girl Holdings, LLC, Mullins oversees the day-to-day training and racing campaigns of the partnership’s stable. Working closely with ownership and bloodstock advisor Michael Pender, he develops and manages a roster of horses competing at top venues including Santa Anita, Del Mar, and the national graded-stakes circuit. The collaboration has already produced notable results, including graded-stakes success with runners such as Queen Maxima, a Grade III winner trained by Mullins for Dutch Girl Holdings and partners.
